Date place downtown Chicago – restaurant for 21st?
My boyfriend wants to know what I want to do for my 21st birthday. We’re thinking a fun restaurant in downtown Chicago. Preferrably with something beyond a simple wine list. Ideas?

I’ve been to Weber Grill, Grand Luxe, Italian Village, Bistro 110, Morton’s and Lawry’s before. Hoping for a new place.
depends on your price range…so many good places in the city, but assuming you’re thinking pricier places i’ll give you a couple good names.
suggestions:
NoMI, Blackbird ($100/person for their tasting menu…wine excluded, but a good deal if you’re willing to spend the cash)
either of those would be great, but expensive…and obviously you can go up or down from those prices. There’s a nice, little Italian place on Chicago just West of Damen (~2 blocks) called a tavola…authentic Italian cuisine, really great atmosphere (tiny restaurant, out of the way…great service), pretty nice wine list as well…prices are pretty reasonable for a nicer restaurant. we paid $170 for two people with two bottles of wine with dinner (so take out the heavy drinking and it was probably about $135-145). hope that helps…also, if you’re willing to not be in a restaurant in the city…if you drive or take the train to the suburbs there’s a fantastic restaurant out in Western Springs right off the train stop that is just amazing. the chef there is one of the best in the city, and is just a really great guy all around (used to work there). the restaurant’s called Vie (you can get an 8 course tasting meal for $100 per person with wine, and it’s never let me down yet…some of my best meals were there). anyway best of luck to you and congrats on turning 21
