Did you meet your beloved the beach? Did you fall in love, and get engaged with the ocean as your backdrop? Are you planning to marry near the shore?
Then you are a perfect candidate for a beach themed shower. You may not be fortunate enough to have a wedding party or family member with a backyard opening on to the shoreline, but with a few inexpensive ideas, you can still create a fabulous sea shore themed wedding (or baby) shower.
Decor
Cover your guest tables with fishing nets and decorate them with a scattering of small sea shells. Hint-bags of sea shells are an inexpensive purchase at your local craft store. For a centerpiece on your buffet table, fill a large punch or fish bowl with sand-or a reasonable facsimile, like grits or couscous-and place large sea shells and starfish in the “sand”.
You can rent palm trees to fill your space if you want to splurge.
Menu
Serve local beach food like grilled fish, fish tacos, lobster rolls, or even hot dogs, if you spent summers roasting wieners over a seaside pit.
For dessert serve s’mores, or decorate cupcakes with tiny sugar flip flops, sunglasses, or again, sea shells which you find at a cake decorating stores.
Gift Bags
Fill gift or prize bags with brightly colored beach towels, sunglasses, flip flops and sun tan lotion.
Music
Play a relaxing ocean wave tape, the Beach Boys, or even Hawaiian or slack key guitar, as background music, and I swear you’ll almost be able to smell the salt water.

New Orleans History: Mardi Gras Parade of Krewe of Rex DVD (1941)
$4.99 This amateur footage of the Krewe of Rex parading in the 1941 Mardi Gras celebration in New Orleans has spectacular color. It documents just how different the celebration of pre-World War II is from the modern ones.
