Haha, the Cheers bar isn’t really authentic, it’s a tourist trap and overpriced and nothing special. The show wasn’t even filmed there, and it also wasn’t even called Cheers before the show – they renamed it that after it became famous.
Anyway, it depends on what kind of bar you’re looking for. I always go to a small very local place called Woody’s which is in the Fenway neighborhood, on Hemenway St. – although they only have beer and wine, no mixed drinks. They DO have a wood-fired brick pizza oven though and among the best pizza in the city though and it’s a cool place to meet people and hang out. Many of the bars in Brighton Center are also really good.
