Where can I find a catering pitch for my burger van?

I am looking for a pitch to set up my burger van, on saturdays and sundays. the sorts of places I would like would be at are, fetes, car boot sales and small events.

Where do I start?

I heard somewhere, or possibly read, that anyone can set up a food outlet, tea, burgers etc., in any lay-bye [layby?] on any highway in UK.

Now, I would strongly recommend that you check this out with your local Citizens Advice Bureau – because we all know that what may have been overheard in a pub to blow up Parliament, might just be the plot for some play or other.

At this next link, enter your post code in the slot provided and you’ll get the address of your local CAB [Citizens Advice Bureau].

If you are able to set up your burger van in a layby – I recommend you put a sign up somewhere on the left hand side – towards you, which reads, [sign 1] BREAKFAST [sign 2] YOU KNOW [sign 3] YOU WANT IT! – so that’s three signs evenly spaced out, about 50 yards each. Another thing, make sure you do CHIPS – people will stop just for a bag for say £1.20 and be only too pleased to help you make a living.

Remember, in spite of what you may have heard, the British people are not on a diet. Most of us are on the full fat cream diet if anything. So slodge – people want things fried, chips, burgers, bacon etc.

Good luck with your new business and may you prosper. . . .
