Family day trips in Connecticut (or MA, RI)?
Last year I gave my father, his wife, and 2 step daughters tickets to the Mystic Aquarium and a gift certificate for a restaurant in the area as a Christmas present so they could have a fun day trip together. Any idea what I should do this year?
Here are some more requirements:
It should be age appropriate for the girls, who are 12.
It should not be anything to do with the casinos, because my father works there.
It should be withing 2 hours driving distance of southern CT.
It should not be something physically strenuous.
Ideally, it should not be something for a specific date (i.e. theater tickets) in case they have other plans or can’t get off work.

Well, I’m from Boston so I know the New England Aquarium is a big-time experience for 12 year olds.
The Museum of Science is another good one. The Freedom trail in Boston is a Historical trail that people walk and a guide tells them of all the things that went on throught history (like Paul Revere).
The Duck Tours are pretty cool. You get in a car that looks like a duck and they give you a guided tour through the city and then the car turns into a boat and goes into the river.
The mansions in Rhode Island were always one of my favorite things to site-see (they’re in Newport). The list goes on and on.
