Traveling to Carcassonne in July? Advice & Tips appreciated!!?
Hello,
I am traveling from Ireland to The Languedoc in July with my Husband and our two children.
We hope to visit Carcassonne during our travels, and have heard that Carcassonne have brilliant celebrations and Firework displays etc on the 14th of Julyto celebrate Bastille Day.
On looking through Tourism websites for Carcassonne I see no mention of any celebrations at all for the 14th July?
Am I mistaken or is there in fact fireworks and celebrations in Carcassonne on Bastille Day?
Also, Are there actual Hotels inside the walls of the Cite or is everything situated outside?? Can you recommend a good hotel for sightseeing?
I am very confused by all the facts I am reading!
Thank you!!
All the towns and cities in France have firework displays on Bastille Day. The larger the city the more impressive the display.
The following website will provide you with all the information you need, both onn the fireworks and other interesting things happening in Carcassonne in july. (and there is a lot!)http://www.carcassonne.org/carcassonne_EN.nsf/vuetitre/docVisiterSaisonsCulturelles
As to hotels, I usually look them up in trip advisor, they not only have excellent info, but they also have reviews and comments by people who have been to the places, I think the “Le Donjon Les Ramparts” hotel inside the walls is probably what you would be interested in. Here’s the link:

You’ll have excellent beaches nearby, all along the mediterranean coast from the spanish border onwards, and lots of places worth a stop to visit. All depends what you are looking for. If you enjoy art, there is the Toulouse Lautrec museum in ALBI, near Toulouse.
Enjoy your visit France is a beautiful country!
