Divorce rates are high all around the world so it’s amazing when a couple can spend one decade together yet alone five decades. That’s why the 50th wedding anniversary is such an amazing event. It obviously deserves a special celebration. Whether you choose to celebrate your special day with friends and family or as a couple, here are some ideas to help with your planning.
Spending Your 50th Anniversary as a Couple
You’ve made it this far together so why not celebrate your 50th wedding anniversary with a little special time for just the two of you. A great idea is to take a couples-only vacation somewhere fabulous. Think about that Caribbean cruise you’ve always wanted or imagine toasting your commitment over a glass of French wine in Pairs. You decide where to spend this intimate party anniversary.
There are also other ways the two of you can enjoy a private party. For example, you could share a candlelight dinner and a bottle of champagne a nice restaurant. During the dessert service, you can exchange those amazing gifts. And remember it’s called this for a reason so shop accordingly.
Celebrating with a Anniversary Golden Party
Often friends and family members will get together to throw you a party on their own. Usually, your children are going to be the ones in charge of planning the anniversary wedding party but there are plenty of other people who could handle the job as well. If you have a say, make sure the planner picks invitations for the event that will match the rest of the theme. What theme is that? Well, usually gold in honor of the significance of your achievement.
So how do you use this theme in the party planning? One way is to serve Chardonnay or another gold-tinted wine as part of the refreshments. If you’re on a budget, save it for just the toast so you don’t have to buy as much. If you’re having dessert, consider making some delicacies that have been rolled in gold flake. Gold flake is made from real gold but is completely edible. You don’t find it at just any party so it will add some elegance to the event. You can also use the gold flake candies as party favors.
Most events are a little more intimate and formal but they don’t have to be. If you would prefer having a big party with live music, dancing, and a lot of fun, then make sure you share that information with the person throwing the 50th party. On the other hand, if you do want something a little more subdued, have the entire family meet at a nice restaurant to enjoy a meal together and to discuss memories of your marriage. Friends should also be invited, especially if they’ve been a part of your life for a long time. Together all of you can celebrate your 50th wedding anniversary.
