Ceremony in Tennessee…reception/celebration in Michigan…?
Me and my fiance want to get married (have a small private ceremony) in Tennessee. We live in Michigan and our family does too. Soooo we want to have the reception/celebration in Michigan at my parents house in the big back yard. We want to get married My 24th next year in 09….which is a Sunday. So most likely have the reception here at home the following weekend.
My questions/concerns are:
1. What do I put on the invetations? (because obviously only our immidate family will be going to the actual ceremony).
2. Can I wear my wedding dress to the reception/celebration even though a whole week will have gone by? Or should I wear something else?
3. Should I make blown up pictures of us at the ceremony to display at the reception/celebration? Or would that be tacky?

1. As for the invitations, I don’t know what the specific wording should be, but they should say something about how you will be having a private, out of state ceremony and would like to request their presence at your reception to celebrate the following weekend. Here are some samples:

2. As for the dress, my cousin also had an out of state wedding with a reception at home. She wore her wedding dress along with a bridal party (which was dressed up, but didn’t attend actually ceremony)
3. And I think that the blown up pictures would be an excellent way to let the guests share in the ceremony. You could also have a table with several framed photos and photo albums for guests to flip through.
