What happened to the Erwin Open School in Greensboro, NC? Still a School? I went there 1978-82.?
This School was out in a suburban area of Greensboro. You had to enter a lottery to get in although they had a percentage of kids from the neighborhood they had to let in. The classrooms were funky hexagon shapes like something from the tv show “LOST”. They called them “Pods” or “Units”. Some teachers names were Mrs. Foster, Mrs. Cruz, Ms. Baugh and Mrs. Massey (Goshorn?) Mr. Jones was Principal and we had things called “Celebrations” weekly in the auditorium.
OMG I went their as a kid too… I remember riding through the ghetto to get to it. I was in Unit-B…lol AND MR. JONES!! OMG that guy freaked me the hell out!! He was like 8 feet tall or at least it felt that way when I was a short little kid. I remember the “Celebrations” as well and the Erwin applause, putting our hands up in the air and shaking them… ROFL. That place is a S H I T hole now. It is a pretty bad neighborhood
