Getting around within Disney World?

We’re staying at the Pop Century Resort at Disney World in Oct of this year. What has been your experience with that hotel, exactly how do you get from park to park, what are the lines like during Oct, what are the advantages of being there during the 50th Anniversary Celebration, and last but definitely not least, what are some of the best tips or words of adive you have to offer someone who’s never been there before? Thanks for your help folks!!

You are going to have so much fun, Disney is absolutely great. Pop Century is a very nice resort. Of the value resorts I think it is the nicest, it is also the newest. It is really beautiful at night and the water is also nice. The icons are really great and the pictures turn out really great, lots of color. As far as how to get around, you can do one of two things. You can get a rental car. Staying on site you won’t have to pay to park at the parks or anything. But the rental car will allow you to get to off site attractions and also offsite dining. If you don’t have a car, you will just use the Disney transportation. They have buses that will take you anywhere at Disney. Pop Century has two bus stops that you can use (one in the Classic Hall and one in the Legendary Hall). You just get on the bus that says it is going to the park you want, i.e Magic Kingdom. You go to the bus stop and every so many minutes a bus will come that says where it is going, you wait on the one you want and then get on, they will take you right to the entrance. You can also get to Downtown Disney and the water parks. I find that the buses will usually come about ever 15 minutes, if it is busier you will probably wait closer to 30 minutes.

If you need to get from the airport, you also have two options. The first is Magical Express. This is free and provided by Disney, I believe it ends in December. Anyhow, they will take you to and from the airport and transport your luggage, you don’t have to. While it sounds nice, a few words of advice. If you can afford a private transfer, I would definately go that way. I was going to use magical express cause I thought it sounded great. Then I started hearing stories of how people’s luggage was lost and it could take two or three days to get it. It can also take a long time to get to the resort since there are several stops. I always take a private transfer. It’s quick and it doesn’t cost that much and that way I know where my luggage is. I use http://premiertowncar.com/ and I have had really good experiences with them, I’ve never had a problem.

October is a really nice time to go. The weather is usually in the 80s, but it is not real hot compared to the rest of the year. Crowds aren’t as busy, but it is still going to be busy, something you really can’t avoid when going to Disney. Fast Pass is a benefit you get for Disney, you don’t have to pay extra, it is included and it is great. You insert your ticket into the machine and then you can get a ticket, it tells you when to return, you go back during that time and get to use a line that is much shorter, many times you can walk right on. You can only get one every so often, so you only want to use it on rides that are really popular and have long lines. Here is a link to some good information on Fast Pass: http://mousetrips.com/FastPASS.html

As far as the 50th Celebration, it is likely that this celebration will not be going on while you are there. It has not been annoucned officially yet, but the celebration is scheduled to end in September, possibly the first week of October. As far as benefits, the main things was the new rides that came because of the celebation which included; Soarin’, Everest, Lights Motors Action and Cinderellabration, a few other attractions have been added during this time as well. Other than that there is just a few little extra things that have been going on and some new decorations for the celebration.

Some tips: Don’t forget your camera, so many memories you want to remember. Take some little snacks with you to eat so you can save money over paying prices in the park. Take a little game or something to use while in line, so you don’t get bored. Be sure to take advantage of priority seating, it will make sure you get the meals you want. Definately use fast pass. Take advantage of Extra Magic Hours. There is lots of little tips like this. I would recommend visiting this site, this is the travel agency I use for my trips: There is lots of great and useful information there: http://mousetrips.com/WaltDisneyWorld.html They have lots of good tips and information. The most important thing is to have fun.

Hope this helps
