A western party is most popular in the west. Well, maybe not, but still itÂ’s where it all happened so many years ago. When most people hear western they usually think of one of two things, either an old style black and white movie with gunslingers, usually with the main character riding away into the harsh desert sunset. Or something along the lines of the Oregon trial or gold rush with a bunch of caravans riding out west in old wagons, usually fighting through their fair share of Indians along the way. Thusly it is of the utmost importance to know just which one or maybe even a combo of both to set the theme to. Well maybe, not that important.
Firstly, sand or grassland, depending on which theme you chose to go with you could chose to have a desert with cactus theme. Or, grassland with buffalo wandering around peaceful. This can be achieved using wall scrolls, pictures, movies and whatnot. Also if you want you can use gold or coal mine instead. Next Indians or no Indians, this is also influenced by your interpretation of the old west, but Indians are much more universal. Beware though, not everyone will appreciate the old and somewhat antiquated concept of evil Indians. Lastly bank robbers and starting a shoot out mid town, or bandits lying in wait along the path west to land and gold.
After choosing what themes and to convey it is now a matter of how to convey them. You can use old movies or historical documentaries of the old west for the T.V. Also hanging up wall scrolls along the walls adds a touch of the old western scenery. Various costumes, banners, streamers, table centerpieces, and etc., can all be obtained to liven up the party. DonÂ’t forget to buy some disposable dishes and utensils if you wish to avoid some of the after party clean up.
