birthday party ideas in seattle

With today’s economy, we’re all looking for some kids birthday ideas that won’t break our budget, yet will still thrill our children on their special day. Even with a limited budget you can be creative and come up with lots of fun kids birthday ideas…it only takes a little effort on your part, and you can bet your child will fondly remember their birthday for years to come. Here are some simple guidelines to help you craft the best birthday ever, and not have to take out a loan to do so!

  • Limit the number of guests. You don’t have to invite every kid in your child’s class to the party. Keep the guest list at a number you’re comfortable with, and that includes your child’s true friends.
  • Invitations- Sooo many choices…A nice alternative to buying invitations is to make them with your child! If your child is old enough, he or she can decorate and write out the invitation with a little help from you. Don’t worry if it’s not perfect – it’s a kid’s party invitation, right?

NOTE: When preparing your invitations, make sure you include the time your party will end! That makes sure that when your party is over, you won’t be stuck with a house full of over energized kids waiting for their parents to pick them up!

  • Location – Have your child’s birthday party at a local park, at home, or somewhere else that’s free.

It’s always a good idea to have a theme for your kids birthday party. This helps focus the party (and help you with choosing decorations, etc) instead of the party being a ‘ho-hum’ let’s all sing ‘Happy Birthday’, eat cake and ice cream, open presents, and go home….

So, choose a theme and start making plans.

  • What kind of food should I have????
My first suggestion is to make your own cake (or cupcakes). No, I’m not kidding. You can do this, and you don’t have to be a professional baker..Just bake any simple cake, and add “edible cake toppers” that fit your theme. Voila! That will give your cake an instant 3-D look!

If you are also planning on serving other food or snacks, keep your theme in mind and be creative.

For example, if you are throwing a ‘Princess’ birthday party, serve finger sandwiches, royal colored jelly beans, grapes, sparkling apple or grape juice or a “royal punch.”

For an ‘Incredibles’ birthday party, label your food. Ketchup is now “super sauce”, carrot sticks can be “energy sticks” or you can have a little “hero sandwiches.”

Let’s say you are using a theme like ‘Finding Nemo’…you can serve “peanut butter & jellyfish” sandwiches, Gold Fish crackers or “tuna fish” sandwiches.

Simple, inexpensive kids birthday ideas can make you the proud host of a party where your child and their friends will have a blast and remember the event forever!

Hi, I’m Lynn McArthur.
Where to begin…I grew up in San Francisco, and lived in California until my job relocated me to Washington (just east of Seattle) about 15 years ago. Although I miss the sun sometimes, Washington is a beautiful state. I am an avid cyclist, hiker and climber (thanks to my partner, Rick). I left my corporate job a few years ago to explore other avenues in my life, and haven’t looked back.

I’ve been working closely with friends to collaborate kids birthday ideas and create stress free ways to plan your child’s next birthday party!
