Out of town wedding and reception…?
My sister is getting married and wants to have the ceremony in Barbados but she lives in Montreal. All our friends and family live in Montreal so most people will not be invited to the actual wedding ceremony in Barbados. Her closest friends and family will for sure attend but what do we do about everyone else? My mom wants to have a sort of reception/party in Montreal when my sister gets back in town for all the rest of these people.
My question is do you have any ideas/suggestions for this reception party in Montreal, and how long after the wedding is it acceptable to have this Montreal reception?
Also, for the bachelorette party & wedding shower, do you invite the people who aren’t attending the Barbados wedding but who are attending the Montreal reception? Or do you just invite the few people who will be flying to Barbados to attend the actual wedding?
The reception should be held within the month.
For the shower, you ONLY invite people who are also attending the wedding. Not just half the wedding, which is what the reception is. When they made their choice to have a wedding away, they have some consequences to deal with, which one wouldn’t have with a regular wedding ceremony and reception.
Another important thing is to include “No gifts, please” on the invitation for those invited to the reception only.
